Stratum Shifts
Staff scheduling inside ChatGPT and Claude
Stratum Shifts adds a staff scheduler to the chat. Describe your team once, then ask for each week in plain words: it keeps the team on file, fills the shifts within each person’s rules, flags clashes and publishes a link your staff open on their phones.
What it does in the chat
Fills the week
Open shifts go to people who are free that day, hold the role and have hours left, spread fairly. A shift it cannot fill stays open, with who came closest and why.
Checks every change
Double bookings, time off, availability, hour limits, rest between shifts, roles, overtime and uncovered shifts. Each flag names the person, the day and the shift.
Finds cover
Say who is out and you get everyone who can take the shift within every rule, fairest first, then who is close and what stops them.
Publishes a team link
One link that always opens the newest week, and a calendar address for each person that keeps their phone calendar current. Staff need no account or app.
Handles time off
Staff ask for days off from their own page. You approve or decline in the chat, and approved days stay free in every schedule after.
Estimates pay
Add pay rates and an overtime rule to see hours, overtime and estimated pay before you publish. Staff never see pay.
Cover lists, pay estimates and answering time-off requests work in Claude today, and come to ChatGPT in an update after its plugin is listed.
Things you can say
Plain words work. These take a cafe from its first setup to a published week.
- Set upSet up Harbor Street Cafe. Ana and Ben are baristas and Cara cooks. Ana can’t work weekends and Ben can do 30 hours at most. Every day we need a barista and a cook from 7 to 3.
- FillFill next week and tell me which shifts are still open.
- CoverCara is sick on Thursday. Who can cover her shift?
- ChangeGive Ben Saturday off and put Dev on the Friday morning shift.
- Time offAna asked for Friday off. Approve it and find cover for her shift.
- PayWhat will next week cost? Everyone is on $16 an hour, with overtime after 40 hours at time and a half.
- CopyStart next week from this week.
- PublishPublish next week and give me the link for the team chat.

ChatGPT
Stratum Shifts has been submitted to ChatGPT’s plugin directory and is waiting for OpenAI’s review. This page will link to it once it is listed. Until then, use it in Claude.
What it leaves to other tools
Stratum Shifts builds the schedule and shares it. It has no time clock or timesheets, runs no payroll, connects to no point-of-sale system, and has no team chat, shift swaps or staff app. If you need those, see how it compares with Homebase, Sling, 7shifts, When I Work and Connecteam.
Price
Free for one workplace and up to 10 staff. Team is a flat US$12 a month or US$120 a year, not per user, for up to 5 workplaces with up to 75 staff in each.
